چکیده

Venema, G. (Hammersmith Hospital, London, England), R. H. Pritchard, and T. Venema-Schröder. Properties of newly introduced transforming deoxyribonucleic acid in Bacillus subtilis. J. Bacteriol. 90:343-346. 1965.-In these experiments, deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) with donor markers, re-extracted shortly after uptake by competent Bacillus subtilis cells, had abnormal physical properties as compared with DNA with resident markers. It was less sensitive to thermal denaturation, and its capacity to renaturation was reduced. DNA showing joint activity of donor and recipient markers (recombinant-type activity) had similar abnormal properties, revealing that, despite the appearance of recombinant-type activity, integration was not complete.

Chromatographically fractionated complementary strands of Bacillus subtilis deoxyribonucleic acid: biological properties.

Biological, physical, and chromatographic properties of methylated albuminkieselguhr (MAK)-fractionated complementary strands, designated as light (L) and heavy (H), of Bacillus subtilis deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) are presented. The pattern of transforming activity along the MAK elution profile of alkilidenatured DNA shows that the residually active molecules selectively fractionated ahead of ...

Photodynamic mutagenic activity of riboflavin for transforming deoxyribonucleic acid and accelerative effect of adenine.

Riboflavin afforded the mutagenic effect on transforming deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) from Bacillus subtilis through photodynamic action, and upon the addition of adenine to the irradiation mixture the mutagenic effect was greatly accelerated. Most of auxotrophic mutants among the transformants required tryptophan or tyrosine. The mutation was closely correlated with the photodynamic inactivatio...
